You'll need:
- hot glue + gun
- Scissors and wire cutters
- Various sized embroidering hoops. I used the outer portion only, so I could save the other half for another DIY project. Frugal, I am.
- Lace trimming. I used a bedskirt that I found at Goodwill. It has elastic gathering which makes it forgiving in terms of perfection. I highly recommend!
{get your tools ready}
{roughly measure each hoop and cut appropriate amount of lace}
{fold the lace over in segments}
{glue along as you progress along the hoop}
{repeat with all three hoops}
{using wire, create a balanced straight line from one side to the other}
{repeat twice more to create a star-like wire crossing}
{connect each section of each hoop with additional hanging wire}
{ta-da!}

LOVE this! I have a hanging fruit basket thingy that I've been meaning to makeover. This would be perfect! Definitely going on my 'to make' list. If you're looking for another place to share your creative ideas, come on over to Etcetorize. Would really love to see you there!

I like this and I have embroidery hoops and lace to make it but I did not really get a sense of how/where the light bulb would go. Is the cord that suspends the chandelier part of a light bulb hanger? I would like to put one around a ceiling light. Do you have any ideas how that might work?
ReplyDeleteBTW This is DIY and at the end of the post there are 2 more, yet your DIY folder is empty. Perhaps you have too much on your plate just now.
I found you through Made by You Monday from Skip to My Lou.
Thanks for the tip about the link not working! I fixed it, so now you should be able to click and see all my other DIY projects.
DeleteAs for the light, as of right now it's strictly ornamental and we haven't installed a light in it. But when we do, we'll purchase a single corded bulb from home depot and I'll just rework the wiring around it. The trick with this whole thing is the wiring. Wire is your best friend. Wire, wire, wire! If you use a strong wire (22g or 20g) you'll be able to manipulate it just fine around the cord. Also, make sure you're using a flame retardant bulb.. Wouldn't want the whole thing to catch on fire!
So very lovely!! Pinned so I can maybe make one for a girly nursery someday!
